Vishing
Posted by The Foo in And everything else...

There is a new “buzz” word (and cyberscam) in town… Prof. Julie Tower-Pierce of Norwich University’s Justice Studies Department has recently introduced a new word: “vishing” or “voice phishing”. It is when victims are asked to call a phone number where confidential information can be recorded for later abuse. Some of the frauds involve a phone call to the victim with demands for confidential information such as credit-card security codes.

Be warned!

Sometimes I think “what a shame” and other times I think “anyone who just gives away sensitive information deserves to get ripped off” and other times I think “wow, I’m really mean.”
