The dancing lady
Posted by The Foo in Fascinating or Weird

This is an optical illusion, look at the dancer below. Which way is she spinning?

image003.gif

If you see her spinning clockwise, then you are left brain oriented i.e. you are a logical and analyzing person.

If you see her spinning counter-clockwise, then you are right brain oriented i.e. you are an artistic and intuitive person.

Not sure how I explain seeing both clockwise and counter-clockwise directions. That’s happening to me, I’ll see her spinning clockwise for a moment and then after a few minutes see her spinning the other direction.

It is a very good illusion! After a while observing it what I have seen is that focusing only on the right part of the standing foot,it turns clockwise and focusing on the left side of her standing foot she moves counterclockwise.I 've seen that her standing leg moves only right and left and that is what causes the spinning of counterclockwise and clockwise spinning.

I can see it spin both ways and know that its a perception thing,i just know it has nothing to do with right or left brain, as a person that teaches neurology I get a bit annoyed when people explain things with right and left brain when they have no idea what they are talking about. I know correcting errors on the internet is like taking a drinking straw to the pacific ocean but if no one tells people that they are wrong then they make retarded assumptions.

@Rob, I agree, nice rack. And this is so PHOTOSHOPPED, even a blind retard could see it.

james... you are a weenie. its all perception. i and most others can make it change direction at will. why do you believe we are all insane and you have it all figured out. guess what.... you dont.

    @james

lighten up, seems like you are taking this way too seriously.
  • james
its only spinning one way, look at the shadow. and it isn't left or right brain, you give neurology and psychology a bad name.

If you cover your left eye she go clocwise cover your right eye she goes counterclockwise that works for me

you can make it change at will. I have found 2 ways. When i think about math and science it spins clockwise. When i think about art and paintings, it spins counterclockwise. Also imagining it in diff directions makes it change for me.Very Cool Imge

I love this! I can spin her at will! I use this to keep both the left and right brain active. We forget to use portions of the brain and never relize all the things our brain can do. Try using different music or try different times of the day! Also seeing the movie "What the Bleep Do We Know". This movie will help explain the proven powers of the brian and how you can control your brain.

it's weird, i see her spinning both ways, and then when i stare at her foot she doesn't even spin, she just moves it left and right back and forth, then when i stare at her head, her head spins a different way from her body

I can also see her spin either way at will. I also am very adept at the "3-d" pictures. I am very firmly right handed, but just about as firmly left-eyed and have had Lasik eye surgery, with one eye for near & the other for far. I guess I am just weird! Thank goodness!

    Who cares? Nice rack!!

Truth I think is, Is that your brain sees left and right only at a certain time.... its the middle ... when the legs go together or the arms are spread apart, then you can make the switch in your head of which way you would like the body to go. its more difficult trying to do it looking at the face. but stare at the legs and pretend the front leg goes to the back when you think its going to the front, then the body will change directions.. my opinion

i saw it spinning clock wise but then look at the shadow and focused on it and it changed direction

P.S. it the other way around. if u see it spinning clock wise then u use ur right brain more but if u see it spinning anticlockwise u use ur left brain more.

Look at the pic and imagine what she would like spinning left and then blink and then try visa versa. Very cool. You can make her change directions at will.

Wow, this is awesome! I saw her spinning counter-clockwise at first. Although the shadow of her feet clearly is that of a counter-clockwise spin I could see her spinning clockwise and then switch between seeing both at will after a little bit of concentration.
Logic but weird is how her supporting leg switches. She's either standing on the left or the right leg, depending on the direction she's spinning. Very cool illusion! Thanks for sharing!!
  • I have come back to this numerous times. Still seems the best way for me to change her direction is to not look at her directly. And she changes when her extended foot is on the left side of the screen.
  • Both ways! I was confused at first...
  • Spunky
Just watch her feet. If you think about which way her feet would be going for each direction you can change her at will.

So I'm a logical artist? Or an intuitive analyst? Yep, I'm a freak. There's no way around it, lol.
  • Kat
I saw her spinning clockwise..and when I stared at it a little too long, I started to feel very dizzy. =(
  • I just came back and she was going counter-clockwise for a while then switched. Crazy!
  • Weird - I can only see her spinning clockwise. Like Janet, if I look peripherally she can go counter-clockwise, but I can only really see her hand and foot at that point.
  • Supposedly I'm an artistic and intuitive person, but I cannot draw anything by hand without it looking a bit drunk.
  • I stared and stared and she only spun clockwise. Then I stopped staring and looked at her through my peripheral vision. She would spin counter clockwise if I didnt think about it.
  • Counter-clockwise.. Can't see her spinning any other direction :(
  • I can make her change direction at will :)
  • I saw her spinning clockwise at first, then after reading the post, I glanced up and saw her spinning the other direction. Crazy! Perhaps you are like me... right handed yet left eye dominate. Makes it hard to shoot darts!
