Remembering the times
Posted by The Foo in Life through my eyes

Seems like yesterday was a day of 21st birthdays, I did see a number of blogs posting special b-day announcements. It did bring back memories of my 21st birthday…

I was in England, my best friend and I decided to celebrate both our birthdays together because his was a day earlier. We planned this months ahead – we were going to invite a total of 21 of our friends each, rent a private room at a restaurant and have a formal tuxedo style dressed dinner party. It was a 3 course meal of steak or chicken and there wasn't going to be any beer – just wine. I can't remember how many bottles of wine we reserved but it was quite a bunch. The room was reserved for us the whole night and as soon as we had finished dinner, they moved the tables for us to go on with the party.

Honestly, I can't remember anything past 11 pm or so. The next day, I woke up in my dorm room with the biggest hangover and a swollen left ankle the size of a soccer ball. Apparently, I had tripped and fallen into a bush on the way back to my room. When I looked around… there, next to my study table were about 30 or so empty bottles of wine each with everyone's signature and a big "Happy Birthday" written in big bold letters (the rest of the bottles were in my other friend's room). I smiled, pulled my blanket up and went back to sleep.

What a great time we had. It was truly a birthday to remember (well at least up to about 11 pm or so that night)!

Aahh, the memories.

  • Libragirl/ Last minuteLyn: Sorry you both got carded. You get to drink beer in England when you are 18 (at a bar) and 16 (if you buy beer with a meal at a non-pub establishment). Last minuteLyn - well the bright side about that is that you have a previous kid right now :-)

Kris: Glad you like it. Quicktags are pretty useful.
  • That does sound like good fun!

Oh, and ooh, red, blue and green, I was curious when you were going to change colours. I like it. Quicktags with pop-up smileys too!
  • I was pregnant when I turned 21 so I couldn't drink but I was carded for a diet coke.
  • That's a great 21st birthday. Mine was on a Monday and was boring. I didn't even get carded when we went to the bars because it was 18 and older night and football was on.
