I had to print 44 pages of a legal pdf document yesterday. Since there were that many pages, I didn’t want to waste my printer ink. So I decided to take it to OfficeMax to get it printed and bound.
Giving it to the sales guy, I returned half and hour later in total disbelief when I found out how much it actually cost — the printing and spiral bound cost me $11.21. I had originally thought it was going to be not more than $4 to $5 as I had printed/ bound that many pages before.
I asked where the extra costs were and he said that he had to charge an extra $6.12 to cut my document down to a custom size the pdf came in. I looked at him and asked him why he didn’t advice me of the cost and why didn’t he leave it at a normal 8 1/2 by 11 size instead of taking it upon himself to size it down (to charge me more than double the price).
His reply to my question, “You should have known of the size and how much it cost to size it”.
Was I wrong to get mad at him at not advising me of the price BEFORE he actually cut it down? How would I know how much it cost to size it when I don’t print and bind on a daily basis?
I really had to control myself from not yelling obscenities. Shaking my head, I just paid for it and left. That is the last time I go to OfficeMax to get something printed out.
I was fuming the rest of the day.
