Open Source Beer

You have heard of Open Source software a.k.a. Free software, now have you heard of Open Source Beer?

Well, a group of Danish designers called Superflex and IT students at Copenhagen University came up with this concept called Free Beer. Not really *Free* in that sense, it is *Free* in a way that the recipe (or source code) is available for anyone to copy, distribute and sell, so long as credit is given to the designers (under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 2.5 license).

You can even download a label to make it more authentic. Right now, the recipe is at revision V3.0 (codename: Skands), and currently in stores for sale. It has been quite a hit so far, the beer is spiced up with Guaraná beans for extra energy. Before anyone of you rush out to buy this beer, the bad news is that it is only available in Europe and South America (for now). But wait, the recipe is available online – so just download it, buy the ingredients and make those great V3.0 beers.

Don’t forget to serve it cold!

What a great idea. Mixing programming with beer recipes. I love it...very smart of them as far as marketing.
