Happy Friday to all of you, it is the weekend!

  • Thanks to Recommended for having me write a guest post on their website. Being a techie site, I felt compelled to write one to fit their blog theme. See my post entitled: The “Super” way to format a Harddrive.
  • Time Magazine put out the 50 Coolest websites for each category type and I was included! Just kidding. ;-). This is a must see list.
  • Since my fav. blog sites are increasing rapidly, I have decided to use a one stop shop RSS reader. I settled on the free online version of Newsgator. I now have the ability to see all new posts from my fav. personal and news blog sites in one easy interface. Perfecto!
  • I like to “reminisce”, especially looking back at past tech. companies, Network World published a list of 10 IT brand names that just won’t die. See whether you can remember some of them.
  • Football season is finally here, driving in downtown Cleveland today, I was reminded of “football fever” with all the tailgaters, stands selling Cleveland Brown’s merchandise, “Peanuts for $2″, “Parking for $20″ signs and half naked guys with painted dog faces/ bodies. I even saw a horse, poodle and a bulldog (yes they were real) with a Browns shirt on – pretty funny! Great to see how sports unites everyone regardless of background, race, shape, size and animal type!
  • My Betta fish (Bubbles) that I adore died yesterday. RIP. I know it “may only a fish” but when it comes to pets, the attachment and bond is unexplainable. For all you pet lovers, you’ll know exactly what I mean.

  • hi kristarella, that part of the world might call it \'Siamese Fighting fish\'. We called it \'Betta\'. Actually, on reading my article again, I misspelled the word - it should be \'Betta\' instead of \'Beta\' ... sorry! I did correct my spelling.

    I was a little puzzled why Compaq was on the list too because I just bought a Compaq computer at the beginning of the year. It\'s still sold here but not in large amounts, all their computers are finally going to be rebranded HP (I believe) but they are still common in the Ipaq handheld devices.

  • Sorry about your fish. I don't really understand what you mean by "Beta fish" does that mean it was online? Or the preliminary release of your fish, or a species?

    I found the 100 top sites difficult to navigate, the links take you to another page in Time Magazine - they couldn't have just don'e that for the topics and given you direct links? I guess this way we see more advertising. I was surprised Slashdot wasn't there. I don't read it but surely it's a big worldwide news type site?

    I remembered some of the IT names. I didn't even know Compaq didn't exist anymore! I still use netscape if it's installed on a computer when Firefox isn't. At least it has tabbed browsing! Also I just don't like IE and refuse to use it on principle. Alas I still check my site designs work there for those bleaders (blog readers) less enlightened than I.
  • Foo, I am so sorry about Bubbles. Horrible. I loved the post on Miles as well, but since I read that one frist and jumped down to this one I wanted to put my condolences here. It's very true what you say about the bond between pets and their owners. I am truly sorry for your loss.
