Trying to find a good HTML color reference page is really tough, I haven’t found one that is useful to me. There are always missing elements to it, no color codes, can’t copy and paste the code, there are colors but no reference codes etc.
Therefore, I went ahead and made a simple chart with the color codes matching the colors in the background. I made it such that you can copy and paste the color codes (based on the proper matching background color).
It took long enough but the effort is worth it. I didn’t really bother with spicing up the page layout but it does the job — for me anyway. I added handy social bookmarking icons on the bottom of the page so you can easily add to your favorite bookmarking sites (script courtesy of Alexander Hadj Hassine). If there is anything else you would like me to add or if you have other ideas, let me know.

Interesting idea.
I generally use colour scheme generators, rather than reference pages. For example:
Flash one, Well Styled, and Color Combos. Are nice ones. But if you want a quick overview of lots of colours, your page works well.
Out of curiosity, is it easy to switch the columns and rows. What’s the effect.
Why have you been looking for this sort of thing?

love the reference pages you mentioned. thanks for that — I’ll definitely be using them at some time or rather.
I think those are actually better if are designing from scratch or for major modifications of templates. I think quick reference and a big overview is the main reason for this. If one really doesn’t know what color you want, a big overview might help — then after you pick a color out, use the color combo sites you have to generate colors. It’s kind of like going into a paint shop and looking at color swashes on the shelves, you have every available color in front of you, you just pick a main color you like — then you look at shades it has. it’s useful if you really don’t have a specific color in mind.
is it easy to switch and what’s the effect? not sure… i just did it the way it as it seemed logical to me from left to right (dark to light). interesting question though.

Yes, it’s a very good idea to be able to choose a good base colour and then get some complimenting ones.
