I think this World Cup was pretty uneventful. It just didn’t bring in any spark or excitement for me. Except for the 1-0 France win over Brazil, and Ecuador they weren’t any “major” surprises… maybe the Swiss toping the group. My fav. team England didn’t play too well – they stumbled into the quarterfinals. Somehow, something is missing within this World Cup, can’t pin point what it is but I don’t think it lived up to the previous ones. Refereeing wasn’t too good and may have decided the fate of some teams. I would also liked to have seen an Asian team do better – this World Cup exposed how limited and far back they are compared to the rest of the world. Years from now, I think that when somewhat would ask about the 2006 World Cup, it probably will be one that no one can remember.
