A game for the budding producer: The Movies™
Posted by The Foo in And everything else..., Software

Do you think you are the next Steven Spielberg? Do you think you can take Hollywood by storm? Well, here is a chance to proof it … Activision has come up with a very innovative PC game called “The Movies™“. A “SIM” like game, you are tasked to do everything from hiring the crew, the actors, build the set, write the screenplay, “create” the special effects to shooting the movie. You can also include your own graphics as backdrops and there is even a stunt + effects expansion set for the “advanced producers”. It doesn’t end there, the movie can be saved to play back on your computer’s media player, distribute it to friend or if you are bold enough, send it to a Hollywood Studio ;-) . Nice touch, nice concept. Looks mighty addictive!

Check out the previously held Virtual Movie Competition sponsored by Chrysler. The challenge was to use The Movies™ PC game to create a virtual masterpiece for the chance to win a brand new Chrysler Crossfire Coupe. Be sure you watch the winning movie (called Bullets are Forever) and those of the other 9 finalists. If you REALLY have time, look at the many movies sent in. Great stuff!
